About ten years ago, when my husband, Jake, and I were engaged, we attended an event at church. At the event, a woman and her husband (who had been in the ministry for several years) asked if they could pray over us. We accepted, and the couple went on to speak over us all sorts of affirming statements, and saying “I believe God has set you both apart for something much larger and greater than you could ever imagine”. We wrote this down in our prayer journals then and have continued to pray into and speak about it often.
Shortly after we married, we both began to have dreams about a property that was clearly utilized as a space for ministry, but we didn’t quite understand what we were being told to do or how to get there.
Fast forward to the last several months- we now have a much more clearly defined direction and vision for what God is calling us to do.
Jake and I confidently believe that God has called us to start a 501 (c) (3) non-profit ministry called 5 Bridges Collective.
Within this collective, we will have a two programs:
  1. 5 Bridges Children’s Village– A private, residential neighborhood with multiple group homes staffed with a Christian married couple, offering safe, nurturing, and trauma-informed family environment in which children can work to bridge the divide between brokenness and wholeness, leading to bright and flourishing futures.
  2. Bridge Haven Complex– a Transitional Living Program for youth who have aged out of foster/residential care and need additional support while transitiong to independence.

To maintain our freedom with utilizing the Gospel, we do not plan to accept any government funding. To assist us in financially sustaining our programs, we will rely on the contributions of the Church, in addition to utilizing the profits raised through two businesses:

  1. Bridge Brew (coffee shop and bakery) and
  2. Bridgeview Events (an event center space for rent).
Our plan is to spend the next year obtaining our official 501 (c) (3) non-profit status and then move toward fundraising and more strategic planning. This will also require us to relocate to Florida.
We are also currently in the process of recruiting for and establishing our Board of Directors. At this time, the primary function of the Board is to provide prayerful support and guidance as we seek The Lord’s direction for 5 Bridges Collective’s next steps.
